From someone who has used many tutors in their life, both ones that were useful and those that were not, the most important thing I have learned is to have each session be engaging, and the best way to make classes exciting and engaging is to keep up with the student's interest, needs and wants. Humour and motivation are a big part of making that successful. I firmly believe that each student learns differently, and one of my main goals is to identify what type of learning suits a particular student. Another important aspect for me is building trust between the student and the tutor since trust plays a significant role in whether students are appropriately engaged. A typical session for me is going through the students homework and classwork. Also to make sure to properly explain and answer any questions pointed towards me.

A typical session would be a brief warm-up, followed by a review of last week's material. Then, we would dive into the core new learning with quizzes and checkpoints within the lesson, followed by a bit of free time for students to review homework or ask their own questions. Then, I would assign work for students to complete on their own, and bring it to class for the next lesson.

My tutoring philosophy centers on the belief that each student requires unique support. Understanding a student's comfort level with academic writing and their familiarity with specific writing styles is crucial for a productive tutoring session. This may involve introducing a particular note-taking method that suits their needs or crafting prompts that mirror the crux of their assignments.

As a tutor, I believe in building a strong interpersonal connection with my clients, fostering a open environment where they feel comfortable in order to foster the most optimal learning environment.  Different students learn in different ways, and as a tutor, I value catering to each person's specific needs and helping them have the most enjoyable experience possible.
